1 WI�REAS, the Saint Paul Deparrinent of Human Rights is a Fair Employment Practices
2 Agency (FEPA) authorized by Chapter 183 of the Legislative Code, to enforce Title VII, of the
3 Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended; and,
4 WHEREAS, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) is authorized by
5 statute to utilize the services of state and local FEP agencies to assist in meeting its mandate to
6 enforce Title VII, of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended and has expressed a commihnent
7 to developing and enhancing a system of "partnership" with FEP agencies; and,
8 WHEREAS, the U.S. EEOC has expressed a desire to continue our contractual agreement with
9 the Department of Human Rights for the 1996/1997 fiscal year, therefore, be it
10 RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul Department of Human Rights is hereby authorized to execute a
11 contractual agreement with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportuniry Commission to investigate
12 dually filed empioyment discruninafion complaints.

SUBJECT: Resolution Authozization - Equal Employment Opportunity Commission Contract
(EEOC)
In fiscal year 1994-1995 the Department of Human Rights (DHR) entered into a contract and work
sharing agreement with U.S. EEOC. The contract provided that the EEOC would pay the DHR for
each employment discrimination case (Title VII, ADA, ADEA} that the DHR investigated when
the case was dual filed with the EEOC. The EEOC has expressed a desire to continue the
contractual relationship with the DHR for the 1996-1997 fiscal year.
The Depariment of Human Rights is xequesting authorizarion to execute the contractual agreement
with the U.S. EEOC for the 1996-1997 fiscal year.
The contract is for an estimated amount of $21,200.00.
