WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Como Zoo has provided a valuable recreational and
education experience for visitors from Saint Paul, the State and beyond; and
WHEREAS, Saint Paul's Como Zoo is celebrating its 100th Anniversary throughout
1997; and
WHEREAS, the success of Como Zoo is the result of partnerships between
organizations which care about the zoo and its visitors; and
WHEREAS, Northern States Power has worked with the City and the Como
Zoological Society on various projects over the years to benefit the Zoo and
the public it serves; and
WHEREAS, NSP has been actively involved with the Como Zoological Society and
the City in the return of Talking Story Boxes to Como Zoo; and
WHEREAS, NSP has financed the gurchase and installation of the Talking Story
boxes and developed two public service announcements promoting the Zoo and its
100th Anniversary Celebration; now
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City CounCil does recognize the
efforts of the Como Zoological Society to facilitate the development of this
project and the generosity and active participation of Northern States Power
in reestablishing Talking Story Boxes at Como Zoo.
