1NHEREAS, Gary Rivet has protected our citizens and the public through his years of service as a City
of Saint Paul Police Officer: and
WHEREAS, O�cer Gary Rivet has always performed his Police Officer duties in a professionai manner;
and
WHEREAS, Gary Rivet, as a Saint Paui Poiice Officer, disptays courage in uphofding the law even in
face ofi danger to his own personai safety; and
WHEREAS, O�cer Gary Rivet has received numerous recommendations and commendations; and
WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paui is a safer community because OfFcer Rivet works for the Department
of Police; and
WHEREAS, O�cer RiveYs desire to improve the quality of life in St. Paul does not end at the ciose of
his shift when he "hangs up his uniform"; and
WHEREAS, Officer Rivet is constantly invoived in our community helping our neighbors in so many ways
such as his volunteer work for Habitat for Humanity, mentoring young children, and annually adopting
a family in need during the holiday season; and ,
WHEREAS, Officer Rivet recognizes that it is truly in the "best interest of children" to work with the Parks
Division, Sylvan Recreation, and other community groups to create a responsive juvenile justice system;
and

WHEREAS, Officer Gary Rivet is distinguished by his compassion for our community in which he serves;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Saint Paul hereby expresses their
appreciation and recognition to Police Officer Gary Rivet for his years of dedicated Police service and
voiunteer service to Saint Paul citizens; and
SE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City of Saint Pauf acknowledges that Gary Rivet has created a
community of harmony in his years of service as both a Saint Paul Police Officer and as a PEACE
OFFICER; and
BE IT FiNALLY RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Saint Paul proudly supports the nomination
by American Legion Post 572 of Officer Gary Rivet as AMERICAN �EGION LAW ENFORCEMENT
OFFICER OF THE YEAR FOR THE STATE OF MINNESOTA.
