If the owner faits to compiy with the resolution, Public Health is ordered to remove the building. Chuck Votel, Public Health, reviewed the staff report. The building had been vacant since May, 1996 and had been condemned in November, 1996. The property was recentiy purchased by Mark Murnane who Y�ad previously purchased properties and did a good job at repairing them for resale. A code compliance inspection had been completed and permits had been issued on January 30, 1997. It was the owner's intention to have the repairs completed within 90 days. He recomznended amending the order from 15 days to 180 days to allow the new owner to complete the repairs. The property ownez did not appear. Cerry Strathman, Legislative Hearing Officer, recommended amending the order from l5 days to 180 days to remove or repair the structure. 2. If the owner fails to comply with the resolution, Pubiic Health is ordered to remove the building. Mr. Votei reviewed _the staff report. The buiiding had been vacant since 7une, 1996. The mortgage company was foreclosing ott the mortgage with the intention of conveying the property to HUD once the redemption period expired. The estimated cost to repair the bullding was approximately $20,000 and the estimated cos[ for demolition was $7,200. Beth Assmussen, attorney representing tl�e mortgage company, Chase Mortgage, appeated. Ms. Assmussen staCed that Chase Mortgage purchased the property at a sheriff's sale on September 18, 1996 with a six month redemption period which would expire on March 18, 1997. It was their intenrion to then convey the properry to HUA for sale. She requested an extension of time to be able to convey the properry to HUD for sale. 7aakic Kie�er, 1038 Oxford, appeared and statcd that shc lived next Co this property. The exterioc of Che house had only two sides which had been painted and the siding was in disrepair. She pointed out that there wasn't a basement under the main part of the structure and the bottom area had large gaps where animals went in and out. She stated for the zecord that one of the neighbors shoveled the sidewalk. Mr. Votel stated that he spoke with the inspectar on this property and he 3ndicated that there were significant violations, the more serious beang problems with the foundation azld other structural problems. Mr. 5trathman recommended approval of the order. He then explained that the matter would be decided at the City Council meeting on February 12, 1997. The building had been vacant since May, 1996 and had been condemned in November, 1996. The property was recentiy purchased by Mark Murnane who Y�ad previously purchased properties and did a good job at repairing them for resale. A code compliance inspection had been completed and permits had been issued on January 30, 1997. It was the owner's intention to have the repairs completed within 90 days. He recomznended amending the order from 15 days to 180 days to allow the new owner to complete the repairs. The property ownez did not appear. Cerry Strathman, Legislative Hearing Officer, recommended amending the order from l5 days to 180 days to remove or repair the structure. 2. The estimated cost to repair the bullding was approximately $20,000 and the estimated cos[ for demolition was $7,200. Beth Assmussen, attorney representing tl�e mortgage company, Chase Mortgage, appeated. Ms. Assmussen staCed that Chase Mortgage purchased the property at a sheriff's sale on September 18, 1996 with a six month redemption period which would expire on March 18, 1997. It was their intenrion to then convey the properry to HUA for sale. She pointed out that there wasn't a basement under the main part of the structure and the bottom area had large gaps where animals went in and out.
