1 WHEREAS, the Minnesota Amateur Sports Commission (MASC), via the State General Fund,
2 provides funds to assist political subdivisions of the State of Minnesota for the development of youth
3 sports and recreation programs, and
4 WHEREAS, the Ciry of Saint Paul is an eligible applicant for these funds and desires to submit
5 grant applications for the following programs, and
6 Youth Acti � Scholarship� - A scholazship program for youth ages 7-16, providing grant
7 funds to youth who do not utilize athletic programs/opporiuniues due to financial hazdships
8 ($10,000 grant request).

Girls Club - A special series of programs wIll be targeted to girls ages 8-10, encouraging them
to become involved in programs designed just for this age group ($1Q000).
Youth Ski Lesson Program - A Cross Country ski lesson and rental program provided to youth
at a reduced cost. The program needs 50 new sets of equipment to accommodate ffie needs of
participants ($5,000).
14 Minnesota Youth Ski League (MYSLl - The MYSL provides use of Cross County ski
15 equipment for youth, community groups and schools at Como Ski Center. The equipment is
16 worn and needs reglacement, new equipment is heing requested ($3,500).
17 4H Jump Into FitnesslSim� Good Eating - Program using jump rope lessons to teach
18 nutrition, exercise and personal heath skills ($10,000).
19 Youth Athletic Officials School - Two off'icial's training schools for young officials. One
2 0 session will target baseball/sofrbail umpires, the other will tazget soccer referees (4,000).
21 WHEREAS, the above mentioned proposed applications to the MASC require the participauon
2 2 of the City of Saint Paul as the unit of local govermnem and resolution by local governmern to apply
