Directing the Fire Department to Update the City Council on the
Planned Computerized Documentation/Data Collection System

1 WFIEREAS, the 5aint Paul City Council directed Council Research to conduct a performance audit of the Saint Paul
2 Fire DepartmenYs Fire Operations Division; and
3 WHEREA5, as part of that performance audit process, Council Research reviewed the Fire and Safety Services
4 chapter ofthe 1996 Budget to check for alignment between the goals and objectives in the budget and current Fire
5 Operations Division policies; and
6 WI�REAS, Council Reseazch has identified EMS/96B 1, which states that the F'ue Operations Division will use a
7 public/private partnership to implement a computerized documentationfdata collection system, as a policy which is
not in practice; and
9 WHEREAS, the performance audit recommends that the City Council should follow-up with Fire Operations to
10 ensure the completion and implementation of this public/private computerized documentation(data collection system;
11 now therefora be it
12 RESOLVED, that The Saint Paul City Council requests the Fire Department to update the City Council on this
13 matter at the December 17, 1997 Council meeting.
