1 WHEREA5, the Minnesota Auto Theft Prevention Program has approved a grant proposal for the Saint Paul
2 Police Department in the amount of $23,000 for overtime effort in the Auto Theft i3nit of the Saint Paul Police

5 WAEREAS, the Saint Paul Police Department desires to set up a budget of $3,000 for equipment in the 1997
6 bndget and the remaining $20,000 in overtime in the 1998 budget, and
WI3EREAS, the Saint Paul Police Department is readp to put into effect a specialized emphasis on auto theft
prevention and apprehension efforts, and

11 WTIEREAS, William K. Finney is the Chief of the Saint Paul Police Department, and

13 WI�REAS, The Mayor pursuant to Section 10.07.1 of the Charter of the City of Saint Paul, does certify that
14 there are available for appropriation funds in excess of those estimated in the 1997 budget; and
