96-993counoil File # -��3 Green Sheet # � O � XJ RESOLUTION Presented By Referred to 1 WHEREAS, The State of Minnesota, Prevention and Intervention Initiafives program has grant 2 funding available through the 1996 Omnibus Crime Act, and 3 WI�REAS, the CiTy of Saint Paul is an eligible applicant and the Division of Pazks and 4 Recreation desires to submit grant applications for the Women are Heroes Too and the Houseless not 5 HomeZess projects, and 6 WHEREAS, the Women are Heroes Too project proposes to enhance young women's positive role 7 in the community through activities involving educarion, vocation and recreation. The project will involve 8 local recreation centers in partnership with the Hallie Q. Brown Center, Merrick Community Center and the 9 UniversiTy of Minnesota Women's Athletic Department, and 10 WHEREAS, the Houseless not Homeless project will engage youth and families in positive 11 recreational activities emphasizing physical activiTy and creating positive self-esteem through educational 12 programs. The project will be performed in partnership with Catholic Chazities, 13 14 NOW TI�REFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the proper City officials ue hereby authorized to 15 prepare and submit Prevention and Intervention project proposals for the listed projects, and 16 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that upon approval of any said project proposal by State of 17 Minnesota, specific resolutions including project budgets, will be submitted for City Council review and 18 approval.
