he City leased property that was used as the Pigs Eye Dump which is now
, identified as a state superfund site. The Minnesota Pollution Control Aency
(MPCA) has billed the City for our share oE the cost of the MPCA`s oversite an
investigation through 1993. The City disposed of lead on the Schnitzel site,
ow also a state su{erfund site; as such, the City is one of a group of
otentially responss.ble partiea (PRPS) working with the MPCA to determine the
ost effective wap to clean up Che site. The PRPs need to hire experta (legal
engineering, and toxicological) to help determine to best way to roceed.
Council File 96-317 directed City staff to proceed with an ob7'ection to the
reduction in valuation by Ramsey County to the property at 1331 Maryland. In
order to provide evidence and testimony in the appeal hearing the City needs t
ire an independent appraiser.
