RESOLUTION
1 WHEREAS, the Saint Paul City Council is holding a policy session on August 21, 1996 to address gang-
2 related violence in the City of Saint Paul, and
3 WAEREAS, funding programs to reduce gang violence in Saint Paul is a high priority for the City Council
4 in the upcoming budget deliberations, and
5 WHEREAS, the 5aint Paul City Council would like to hear perspectives and suggestions about programs
b and remedies for gang-related violence from the following persons, among others:
7 1. Susan Gaertner, Ramsey County Attorney
8 2. Bob Fletcher, Ramsey County Sheriff
9 3. William K. Finney, Chief of Saint Paul Police,
10 4. 7oan Fabian, Ramsey County Corrections
11 5. Representative from the Saint Paul School District

13 NOW TT�REFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council officially invites these persons
14 as well as other interested members of the community to ths policy session on August 21, 1996, and be it
] 5 F[JRTHER RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council requests the Mayor's Office to present an update
1 b at the August 21, 1996 policy session on the action strategy in the 1994 Report of the Mayor's Transition
17 Team on Public Safety, "Making Saint Paul a Safer City."
