WE�REAS, the City of Saint Paul is experiencing a surge of gang-related violent criminal activity, and
2 WHEREAS, the recent murder of a four-yeaz-old gicl along with the wounding of several innocent bystanders
3 all resulted from rival gang violence, and
4 WI�REAS, gang-related violence must be quickly and significandy reduced so that the citizens of Saint Paui
5 do not fear for their life and their safety, and
6 WE�REAS, the Saint Paul City Council recognizes that gang-related violence is a major problem facing the
7 City of 5aint Paul, and
8 WIIEREAS, the Saint Paul City Council believes that reducing gang-related violence is of utmost priority
9 in the Ciry of Saint Paul, now therefore be it,
10 RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council requests the Chief of the Saint Paul Police Department to
11 prepare an Action Pian to combat gang violence in the City of Saint Paul, and be it
12 F[JRTHER RESOLVED, that this Action Pian be presented to the Saint Paul City Council in thirty (30) days,
13 and be it,
14 FURT'FiER RESOLVED, that this Action Pian utilize eacisting Police Department and City resources and
15 capacities, to the highest ement possible.
