DATE: July 24, 1996
At today's City Council meeting, I will be bringing in a resolution granting a patio
license for Tulips Restaurant focated on Selby Avenue. Last night, the District 8
Planning Council Board of Directors approved Tulips' request for a patio license with a
10:00 p.m. closure on weekdays and a midnight closure on weekends. Attached is a
copy of the resolution.

TULIPS P�TIO PETTTION
March/April 1996
Tulips Restaurant, located at 452 Selby ���enue in Cathedral Hiil, wishes to huitd a patio
for outdoor dining. There wfll be a wrought iron fence spanning the distance befween
Tulips and the Curling Club. �'Ve will not have entertainment or music of any kind in the
proposed outdoor area. We w�ill serve until approaimately 11:00 PM. Our menu will
consist of light foods, wine and beer. We ��ill not serve any other alcoholic beverages. The
patio will be open for lunch and dinner, beginning at 11:30 AM. We plan to serve a
Sunday Brunch as well. We plan to seat about 55 persons on two levels. Our plans are to
make the space private, intimafe and filled with plants, herbs, trees and summer foliage.
�'Ve ask that you sign fhis petition to further enhance the continued redevelopment of the
Selby Avenue area. Thank You.

At it's regulariy scheduled boazd meeting held on Tuesday, July 23, the Sun�mit Univexsity
Planning Council passed the fnllowing motion:
To support an E�ctension of Service Pernnt for a patio at Tulips, a wine bat and testuazant
located at 452 Selby. Patio closure houzs would be l0 p.m Sun-Thurs with a midnight
closure on Friday and Saturday. The communzty would review a possxble extension of the
weeknight closing times at the regulazly scheduled Community Issues meeting in 7une o£
1997.
