WHEREAS, on June 30, 1996, the Pilgrim Baptist Church, located at 732 Central Avenue West in Saint
Paul, will have been in the City for one hundred and thirty-three years; and
WHEREAS, the Pilgrim Baptist Church is the oldest African American church in Saint Paul and the second
oldest African American church in the State of Minnesota; and
WHEREAS, the Pilgrim Baptist Church has served Saint Paul with an outstanding record and remains a
foundation of the City's religious community and an integral part of the City's social fabric; now therefore
be it
8 RESOLVF.D, that on behalf of the citizens of Saint Paui, the Saint Paul City Council recognizes the Pilgrim
9 Baptist Church as an outstanding member of the community and expresses their congratulations and wishes
10 for continued success on their one hundred and thirty-third anniversary.
