Committee: Date
Whereas, tourism, conventions and major events in the City of Saint Paul provide jobs,
promote economic vitality, and increase the visibility of the City;
Whereas, the annual Taste of Mimiesota Festival on the July 4th weekend sponsored by the
newly formed Capital City Partnership is a major event of benefit to the City;
Whereas, the Mayor of 5aint Paul has been invited to gromote the Taste of Minnesota
Festival by the Capital City Partnership on June 17, 1996 by visiting the cities of Duluth,
Virginia, Grand Rapids, and Moorhead;
Whereas, the Capital City Partnership has offered to pay for the expenses of the promotional
tour;
Whereas, under state law and City Charter and Administrative Code, the City of Saint Paul
can accept gifts for and on behalf of the City, which gifts then become properry of the City
and are available for appropriation by the City Council for public purposes.
Now, Therefore, be it Resolved by the Saint Paul City Council:
1. The City Council accepts the gift from the Capital City Partnership for expenses related to
the promotional tour for the Taste of Minnesota described above including travel, meals, and
related promotiona] materials (hereafter "Gift").
2. The City Council appropriates the use of the Gift to the Mayor.

3. The City Council fmds and determines that the City's acceptance and appropriation of the
Gift for the Mayor's participation in the promotional tour for the Taste of Miunesota on 7une
17, 1996 is of benefit to the citizens of Saint Paul and serves public purposes by promoting
the City for economic development and tourism related purposes.
