On December 11, 1995, a City oi St. Paul squad car, driven by Officer
Cornelius Benner III, slid through the red light at the intersection
of Case and White Bear and struck a 1990 Dodge Dynasty owned and
driven by Wendi Ftodewald. Ms. Rodewald was proceeding through the
intersection with a green light. As a result of the impact, Ms. Rodewald's
vehicle was a total loss. Our of£ice has reached a settlement with
Ms. Rodewald in the amount of $6,912.38.

RE: Claim against the City of St. Paul

Dear Ms. Rettman:
I am requesting that the above-referenced claim be submitted
directly to the City Council for consideration under a suspension
of the rules. I am making this request because a delay in the
passage of the resolution will increase the City's liability in
this mater.
Ms. Rodewald's vehicle was determined to be a total loss as a
result of an accident with a City vehicle. Ms. Rodewald is unable
to purchase a replacement vehicle until she receives her settlement
check. The City is liable for car rental expense of $22.00 a day
until Ms. Rodewald receives her settlement.
