96-580S ��'����� '� v�"S' I• 7� Council File # 9 G- S 8 � Green Sheet # �C� RESOLUTION _ .e17Y OF SAINT PAULti MINNESOTA Presented By Referred To Committee: Date 1 P12 z 3 Whereas, tourism, conventions and major events in the City of Saint Paul provide jobs, 4 promote economic vitality, and increase the visibility of the City; 5 6 Whereas, the City has the opportunity to bid to host the National Collegiate Athletic 7 Association (NCAA) men's national hockey tournament in an upcoming year; 8 9 Whereas, the Mayar of Saint Paul has been invited to Hilton Head South Cazolina on June 9 10 tluough 10 to participate in presenting the City's bid to host the NCAA tournament; 11 12 Whereas, the Saint Paul Civic Center Authority and the Saint Paul Convention and Visitors 13 Bureau have offered to pay for the expenses of the trip which expenses are estimated to be 14 $1,500; and 15 16 Whereas, under state law and City Charter and Administrative Code, the City of Saint Paul 17 can accept gifts for and on behalf of the Ciry, which gifts then become property of the City 18 and are available for appropriation by the City Council for public purposes. 19 20 Now, Therefore, be it Resolved by the Saint Paul City Council: zi 22 1. The City Council accepts the offer of the Saint Paul Civic Center Authority and the Saint 23 Paul Convention and Visitors Bureau to pay expenses related to travel, meals, lodging, 24 entertainment, and related promotional materials (hereafter "Gift") for a trip to Hilton Head 25 South Cazolina on June 9 through 10 for the purpose of making a bid on behalf of the City 26 for the NCAA to hold its men's hockey touniatnent in the City. 27 28 2.
