RE: SUSPENSION ITEM
DATE: May 22, 1996
On Thursday, May 23, 1996, a community-wide recognition event will be held in honor of Art
Blakey to express support for his heroism in preventing a robbery at the VFW in Saint Paul.
The celebration wiii take place at Saint Peter Ctaver Church, 375 North Oxford, at 6:30 p.m.
Even though he was wounded, Art foiled the robbery and assisted patrons in the bar. To show
our support and recognition of his bravery, I have prepared a resolution from the City Council to
be read at the ceremony.
Due to the short time line, I need to bring this resolution in under suspension at today's
meeting. Thank you for your considesation in this matter.
