Dear Mayor Coleman,
I am writing to request an appointment to the CIB Committee. I understand that this is an
advisory committee for the city at large.
I am involved in the health of my neighborhood in both a personal and professional
capacity. Thus, I have an understanding of neighborhood need as it relates specifically to
my community but also generally as it relates to all communities. I believe that a healthy
city translates into healthy individuai communities within that city. Since I currently
work on the micro neighborhood level I also want to round out my experience by working
on macro level issues.
The enclosed letters of reference extol a number of my characteristics and I will let them
speak for me. Thank you for your time and your consideration of my request.

My purpose for writing is to recommend that you appoint Wayne Lundeen to
the City of St. Paul CIB Committee.
I know Wayne through our mutual involvement in the Thomas-Dale Block
Club. During this five year period I have seen an individual who is
consistent in his commitments, fair in his evaluation of issues and open to
change. I have used Wayne as a sounding board for a number of issues and
have found his ideas to be creative, insightfui and well thought out.
Sincerely,

I have known Wayne Lundeen for over four years in his preseni position ai the Thomas-
Dale Block Club. He has demonstrated his concem and commitmen[ by serving by
working way beyond his hours and living and maintaining a home in the neighborhood. I
have worked with VY'ayne on issues surrounding young people, the widening of Dale
Street and issues around preventing prostitution. This neihborhood owes part of our
success around those issues to Vayne. He has proved himself to be an effective leader
and skilled communicator, two attributes that wili be of benefit to the CIB committee as it
reviews future projects in St. Paul. I know that Wayne would fairly reveiw and then
tiveigh the tremendous choices for this city that come before the CIB with compassion and
reason.

The reason for this letter is to recommend Wayne Lundeen for the opening on the City
of St. Paul Capitol Improvement Budget(CIB) Committee.
Wayne and I have worked closely over the last six years to build a better Thomas-Dale.
As a volunteer and eventually as staff, he has shown the same whole hearted
commitment to quality in his work and treatment of issues. Throughout our relationship
I have been impressed with his dedication to the betterment of our neighborhood. I
know that he will take these qualities to the work of the CIB Committee. Furthermore,
he will take the concems of the committee to the community.
It is with full confidence that I recommend Wayne Lundeen to the CIB Committee.

Dear Mayor Coleman,
-3
I came to know Wayne Lundeen through aur mutual work on the Thomas Dale
Biock Clubs almost six years ago. Both Wayne and I sat on the first elected
board. Later he became a staff vnember, while I condnued to serve on tte
board until 12ay, 1995.
In that time F've never observed Wayne ta act with anything but the interests
of our communiry in mind. He's been conscientious in the dischare of his
duties both as a board member and as an emgloyee of the block clubs. He's
familiar with the workings of city government, fair-minded and z quick study.
F'm sure his appointment to the Capital Improvement Budget Committee would
be a credit to your office, and wauld serve the interests of Frogtown and the
city as a whole. I hope you'll give his application careful attentian.
Sincerely,
Anthony
