96-340r". �"� .������ �.- E �,,. � _3 Gd � ., Presented By Reierred To Council Fi1e # `� ' � � D RESOLUTION Green Sheet # 34483 INT�� MINNESOTA �G� Committee: Date WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul Public Works Department Bridge Division has an annual program to remove hazardous lead paint peeling from bridges, owned and maintained within the City of Saint Paul, and to encapsulate with a special paint the remaining sections of these bridges to prevent further peeling and possible lead pollution of the environment, and WHEREAS, last year, local funds in the amount of $50,000 were spent from Department of Public Works Fund Account number 225-42340-0314 to pay for this program to remove hazazdous lead paint from one of the City's bridges, and WHEREAS, to help finance this program in 1996, the Department of Public Works will submit a grant request of $100,000 through a prograzn founded in the Minnesota Office of Environmental Assistance (MOEA) to eliminate or prevent pollution of the environment, and WHEREAS, if MOEA funding is received, the City of Saint Paul Public Warks Department Bridge Division will be able to add more bridges to its lead paint removal program and will be committed to implementing the proposed project described in the grant application, and WHEREAS, again, if MOEA funding is received, the MOEA requires that the Saint Paul Public Works Department enter into a grant agreement with the MOEA that stipulates the terms and conditions of the funding award, and WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul agrees to match the grant award one-to-one with local funds from Department of Public Works Fund Account number 225-42340-0314, now; therefore BE IT RESOLVED, if the MOEA awards the $1OQ000 pollu6on abatement grant to the City of Saint Paul, that the Council of the City of Saint Paul authorizes and directs the Bridge Division of the Saint Paul Department of Public Works Department to enter into a grant agreement with the MOEA to cany out the project specified therein and to comply with all of the terms, condifions and matching provisions contained therein, and ``�` � f ``°� � �' i ��, s Page 2 �' � 3 y � . � y � �.� ; � . , � BE TT FCTRT'I�R RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Saint Paul authorizes the Director of the Public Works Department or the Manager of the Bridge Division of the Department of Public Works to sign the grant agreement on its behalf.
