The building was presently being used as a garage for maintenance purposes. They had purchased the property in May, 1995 and did not understand why they were being ordered to remove the styrofoam insulation at the present time when this condition existed with the previous owner. Mr. Strathxnan questioned whether there would be a problem with removing the insulation at the present time. Mr. Oehrlein responded that it would not be a problem to remove it, however, it would be costly to replace the insulation since the building was scheduled to be removed. It was a heated facility and insulation was a necessity. Phillip Owens, Fire Prevention, appeared and stated that orders had been issued in June, 1995 to remove the styrofoam insulation. A letter was received from United Waste Transfer in October, 1995 requesting an extension to December, 1999. Fire Prevention granted an extension to remove the insulation by May, 1996. Due to the fact that the building was being used for maintenance purposes, the styrofoam insulation was considered hazardous and fl2mmable for this type of operation. Mr. Strathman stated that since this was a hazardous situation, his decision was to deny the request for the vaziance, however, he would allow until May 1, 1996 for compliance. rrrx
