1 WHEREAS, it is the centennial birthday of F. Scott Fitzgerald, one of Saint Paul's most
2 famous citizens and an important figure in American literature and history; and
3 WHEREAS, the Saint Paui Foundation, Public Art Saint Paul and others are
4 contracting for the production of a life-size bronze statue of F. Scott Fitzgerald to
5 recognize and publicly celebrate the author's 100th birthday; and
6 WHEREAS, the statue will be ready for public display and installation in September,
7 1996; and
8 WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul desires to accept this gift and install it in a public
9 park for the public's benefit and enjoyment; now, therefore, be it
10 RESOLVED, that the City of Saint Paul, on behalf of its citizens, gratefully accepts and
11 acknowledges the gift of the Saint Paul Foundation; and be it
12 FURTHER RESOLVED, that the proper City officials are authorized to enter into
13 necessary agreements to accept title, contribute site preparation expenses and ensure
14 the ongoing maintenance of the statue.
