7 WHEREAS, the Mayor of the City of Saint Paul is a member of the United States Conference of Mayors; and

3 WHEREAS, the Mayor has been selected by the United States Conference of Mayors to attend the 1996
4 Jerusalem Conference of Mayors, which will bring together mayors from throughout the world to exchange
5 views and experiences on significant urban problems; and

7 WHEREAS, the American Jewish Congress and the United Jewish Fund and Council of Saint Paul fiave
8 generously offered to arrange for the travel, hotel, and meal expenses of the Mayor for this conference; and

10 WHEREAS, under state law and City Charter and Administrative Code, the City of Saint Paul can accept gifts
1 7 for and on behalf of the City, which gifts then become property of the City aod are available for appropriation
12 by the City Council for public purposes;

14 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Saint Paul City Council that the City Council accepts the offer of
15 the American Jewish Congress and the United Jewish Fund and Council of Saint Paul to the City of
16 Saint Paul of expenses related to travel, meals, and lodging for a trip to Jerusalem to attend the 1996
17 Jerusalem Conference of Mayors; and

79 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council appropriates the use of the travel, meals, and lodging to the
20 Mayor; and

22 BE fT FINALLY RESOLVED that the City Council finds and determines that the Mayor's attendance at the
23 Jerusalem Conference of Mayors is of benefit to the citizens of Saint Paul and serves public purposes by
24 promoting the City for economic devetopment purposes and by allowing the Mayor to tearn how other cities
25 throughout the world are dealing with significant urban problems.

Mayor Coleman was selected by the United States Conference of Mayors to attend the 1996
Jerusalem Conference of Mayors, March 17-24, 1996. The American Jewish Congress and
United Jewish Fund and Council of Saint Paul have offered to arrange<����Et�e Mayor's travel,
hotel, and meal expenses.

ADYANTAGES IF APPfiOVED:
The City Council will accept the offer of the American Jewish Congress and United
Sewish Fund and will appropropriate to the Mayor the travel, meals, and lodging. The txip

cities throughout the world deal with significant urban problems.
