177,000 calls for police service. Occ sionally, from this demand for aervice, complaints ri e>:
regatding conduct of police officers i the performance of their duties. The public had 1 tt e+�
understanding of internal inveatigatio s and the results were not made public. In August, 19 3,
based on requests from the coaumunity, process was established to inform the public about th
complaint process and to assure that p lice services are provided in a law£ul and non-disc im
inatory manner. The Police-Civilian I ternal Affairs Review Commission in its first year as

matters. Based on its performa.nce to date, its continued existence is
recommended.
