RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF THE
NATIONAL PARENTING ASSOCIATION
1 WHEREAS, children are 100% of the future for all of us, and,
2 WHEREAS, raising children is challenging, especially in this age of family fragmentation and fierce
3 work pressures. Many parents feel isolat,d, and are convinced that they are not listened to or valued
4 by society at large, and,
5 WHEREAS, education is the most important predictor of self - sufficiency and future success, and,
6 WHEREAS, parents are the first, ongoing and most influential educators of their children, and,
7 WHEREAS, the National Parenting Association is a nonprofit, bipartisan membership- driven
8 organization, dedicated to creating a society which cherishes children by providing education, support,
9 and a 'voice" for families,
10 NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Saint Paul, Minnesota,
11 shares the vision of the National Parenting Association and supports the Association's efforts to attain
12 the goals within its vision statement,
13 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk be given the authority to forward this resolution to
14 the National Parenting Association, Minnesota Parenting Association and the League of Minnesota
15 Cities.
