WHEREAS, an estimated 35,000 men in America will die because of prostate cancer, and
WHEREAS, In 1994, The Saint Paul Department of Fire & Safety Services provided a program to promote prostate
disease awareness for firefighters, and
WHEREAS, The Department wishes to provide a prostate cancer screening clinic for firefighters with time donated
by Dr. Lance Mynders, urologist, and time donated by a nurse, and
WHEREAS, The Merck pharmaceutical company has offered to provide the Department of Fire & Safety Services a
grant of $1,000 which would be used to pay for Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) blood test for firefighters, and
WHEREAS, The Mayor, pursuant to Section 10.07.1 of the City Charter, does certify that there are available
for appropriation, revenues in excess of those estimated in the 1995 Budget, and
WHEREAS, The Mayor recommends the following changes to the 1995 Budget;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council adopts the above changes to the 1995 budget, and
authorizes the Saint Paul Fire Chief to accept these donations and thank Dr. Lance Mynders and Merck
pharmaceutical company for providing this valuable service to the firefighters of Saint Paul.

1 BE IT RESOLVED, that the proper City officials are hereby authorized and directed to enter
2 into Lease Agreement PED /22b with Northern Warehouse Limited Partnership, PED /22c with
3 Tilsner Building Limited Partnership, and PED /22d with the Gillette Company for vacant land
4 in Blocks 61 and 62, Kittson's Addition to the City of St. Paul and portions of vacated Prince,
5 Pine and Broadway Streets adjoining, hereinafter referred to as the Property, the term of said
6 Lease Agreements to be ten years.

8 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the proper City officials are hereby authorized and
9 directed to enter into Maintenance Agreement PED /22a with the Gateway Coalition, LLC, a
10 Minnesota limited liability company, to construct certain improvements, and to operate and
11 maintain a pedestrian access, open to the public without charge, on the Property and on a
12 portion of adjoining vacated Broadway Street owned by the City, all at no further cost to the
13 City.
