WHIItEAS, the City Council of the City of Saint Paul is concerned about the pending reductions in funding
for youth job training and crime prevention programs in Saint Paul; and
WF�REAS, youth job training and crime prevention programs are an essential factor in maintaining the
City's economic vitality by investing in the future workforce of the City; and
WHEREAS, youth job uaining and crime prevention programs facilitate the cooperation and communication
between businesses and the citizens of Saint Paul; and
WHIItEAS, youth job trauung and crime prevention programs are critical in providing altemative activities
for youth in the Ciry, especially during non-school hours; and
9 WHEREAS, the City Council has received information that federal funding for many successful youth job
10 training and crime prevention programs will be drastically cut; now therefore, be it
ll RESOLVED, that City Staffare directed to take steps before the Mimiesota Legislature, the Governor, and
12 the United States Congress to protect the funding for Saint Paul youth job uaining and crime prevention
13 programs.
