1 NILLCREST TRANSIT HUB
2 WHEREAS, Metropolitan Council Transit Operations (MCTO) proposes to construct a transit hub
3 on Idaho between White Bear Avenue and Gary Place to be known as ths Hillcrest Transit Hub;
4 and

6 WHEREAS, the Hillcrest Transit Hub will include new heated bus shelters, street and sidewalk
7 improvements on Idaho, and reconstruction of Gary Place between Idaho and lowa with new
8 bituminous paving and concrete curb and gutter; and

WHEREAS, the Hiilcrest Transit Hub will provide better service for surrounding neighborhoods
into Hillcrest Center; and
WHEREAS, MCTO worked closely with the District 2 Community Gouncil and the Gity in
developing preliminary plans for the Hillcrest Transit Hub, which the District Council approved
by a unanimous vote on April 28, 1994; and
WHEREAS, preliminary plans for the transit hub have been reviewed and are supported by
Saint Paul Planning and Public Works staff; and
WHEREAS, MCTO wifl pay alf costs for these improvements and no City funds wili used;
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council supports the MCTO proposal to construct
the Hillcrest Transit Hub on ldaho between White Bear Avenue and Gary Place, subject to final
review of plans and issuance of permit by Public Works.
