2 Whereas, Section 7.07 of the Saint Paul City Charter authori2es the City Council upon
3 five (5) affirxnative votes to call an election when deemed necessary for any purpose and
4 provide for the holding of the election, and
5 Whereas, Section 7.08 of said Charter requires such elections to be conducted in
6 accardance with applicable statutes, and
7 Whereas, Minn. Stat. 204B.36, Subd. 3 requires that when a question is to be
8 submitted for a vote, that a concise nature of the ballot question be printed, and
9 Whereas, the City Council by Resolution 93-1433 endorsed the undertaking of plans to
10 include the City of Saint Paul's participation in "CityVote," and
11 Whereas, "CityVote" is a city-based presidential preference balloting project designed
12 to gauge presidential candidates' support among America's urban dwellers as part of the
13 November 7, 1995, elecfion; nowtherefare be it,
14 Resolved, that the City Council hereby states the "CityVote" baliot question for the
15 November 7, 1995, election to be:
16 "Which of the following persons do you prefer for President of the United States and
17 to be elected in the fall of 1996?"
