95-1114ORIGIf�►AL RESOLUTION Presented Referred To ay WHEREAS the residents of Saint Paul are feeling the pressures of automobile traffic that is traveling at speeds in excess of posted speed limits, and WI�REAS at vatious community meetings, seniors, families with children, pedestrians, bicyclists, and even other automobile drivers have expressed fiustration with the City's apparent inability to control the speeds of vehicle on our streets, and 6 WI�REAS it is incumbent upon City officials to respond to these concerns by coordinating the efforts of our police 7 department and our public works department to implement a modified plan for traffic control, and 8 WHSREAS tbere is currently a resolution proposal that calls fox the City of Saint Paul to adopt a ZERO 9 TOLERANCE policy toward traffic violators and to establish a promotional campaign that will put drivers on notice 10 that the City of Saint Paul will vigorously enforce its traffic laws, therefore 11 BB IT RESOLVED that the City of Saint Paul enter into a grant agreement with the Minnesota Department of 12 Public Safety, Office of Traffic Safety for the project entitled SAFE AND SOBER COMMUNITIES during the 13 period from October 1, 1995 through January 31, 1997.
