The above standard street lighting system is being implemented in conjunction with the widening of Maryland Avenue at Rice Street for left tum lanes. The widening of Maryland Avenue will be completed by the Ramsey County Department of Public Works. Also, In the Matter of Operation Costs of the Above Standard Street Lighting System for the above project (File No. 190270P). The Council of the City of Saint Paul hauing received the report of the Mayor upon the above improvement, and having considered said report, hereby resolves: 1. That the said report and the same is hereby approved with no altennatives, and that the estimated cost thereof is $103,125, financed by Municipal State Aid financing and assessments. 2. That a public hearing be had on said improvement on the 21 st dav ofApril, 2010, at 530 p.m., in the Council Chambers of the City Hall and Court House Building in the City of Saint Paul. 3. That notice of said public hearing be given to the persons and in the manner provided by the Charter, stating the time and place of hearing, the nature of the improvement and the total cost thereof as estimated. Initiating Action The Maryland Avenue ahove sta�dard lantern style street lighting system is being implemented by the Department of Public Works in conjunction with the widening of Maryland Avenue at Rice Street for left turn lanes. Widening of Maryland Avenue will be completed by the Ramsey County Department of Public Works. Proposed Improvements It is proposed to install 17 foot tali twin lantern street lighting system on Maryland Avenue between Albemarle Street and Park Street. Seventeen (17) foot tall single lanterns will be instalfed on Rice Street from Hawthorne Avenue to Ivy Avenue. The area wili be included in the Rice Street Above Standard Assessment Area. Positive Benefits The new light installation will enhance street widening improvements being completed by Ramsey Gounty Department of Public Works. Street lighting system will match the street light system installed on Rice Street from Sycamore Street to Rose Avenue as part of an earlier streetscape project along Rice Street. The twin lantern lighting proposed for this intersection is per recommendations of the City Council adopted Rice Street Small Area Pfan and Forty-Acre Study.
