That the said report and the same is hereby approve with no aiternatives, and that the estimated cost thereof is $1,255.401, financed by Minnesota State Aid and assessments. 2. That a public hearing be had on said improvement on the 17th day of December, 2008, at 5:30 o'clock P•m•, in the Council Chambers of the City Ha11 and Court House Building in the City of Saint Paul. 3. That notice of said public hearing be given to the persons and in the manner provided by the Charter, stating the time and place of hearing, the nature of the improvement and the totai cost thereof as estimated. In addition, appropriate sanitary sewer repairs will be made, lead water services in the right of way will be replaced and storm and sanitary sewer reconnections will be made at the request of property owners. EXISTING CONDITIONS Sixth Street is a concrete paved street that is in fair condition. The existing street width is 43 feet. Sixth Street has wood pole lighting. PROPOSEDIMPROVEMENTS It is proposed to improve Sixth Street with the construction of a new bituminous surFaced street with concrete curb and gutter, concrete driveway aprons and outwalks, and boulevards landscaped with sod and trees. In addition, appropriate sanitary sewer repairs will be made, lead water services in the right of way will be replaced and storm and sanitary sewer reconnections will be made at the request of property owners. The proposed street width is 38' to allow for parking on both sides of the street with bump-outs or center islands at the intersections. Sixth Street will have a lantern style street lighting system installed as part of this project. ALTERNATES To do nothing would be inconsistent with the City's commitment to improve existing oiled and older paved streets. POSITIVE BENEFITS General improvement of the public right-of-way will enhance and add quality to the neighborhood. The bump-outs and islands will he�p to alert drivers that they are on a residential street and have a traffic calming effect. Lantern style lighting will enhance neighborhood safety and esthetics. ADVERSE EFFECTS Normal problems associated with construction such as noise, dust, reduced access to the neighborhood, and general disruption will be present.
