PAIIL ORDER � 2 �� In tha Matter of Ecolab plaza project - design and improvement of the public open space, currently ]mown as Capital Centre Plaza (to be renamed Ecolab Plaza): includes demolition, new paving, lighting, drainage, landscaping, park furniture and excavation for a tunnel between Ecolab and Capital Centre. That the said report and the same is hereby approved with no alternatives, and that the estimated cost thereof is $1,000,000 financed by Sales Tax Revitalization Grant $350,000 ($175,000 for 1997 and 1998), HRA Business Loan Fund $350,000 and Assessments $300,000. 2. ADVANTAGES IF APPROVED: The Ecolab Project will keep a rapidly-growing global Fortune 1000 company in innesota, retain 1,057 jobs in downtown Saint Paul and create at least 250 ne innesota jobs that pay better than $l0 an hour by June 30, 2000, most of them in downtown Saint Paul. DISADVANTAG�S IF APPROVED: one DISADVANTACES IF NOT APPROVED: apid growth from strategic partnerships and acquisitions in the last few year has forced Ecolab to decide whether it needed to move its headquarters to a location better able to accommodate its space needs. Ecolab considered locatinq its headquarters in North Carolina and Tennessee befare deciding to remain in St. Paul.
