AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING AN
EXAMINING COMMTTTEE ROR TH� POSITION OF POLICE CHIEF
PERBUANT TO THE PROVISIONS OF SECTION 12.12.1
O�' THE SAINT PAUL CITY CHARTER
6 WHEREAS, Section 12.12.1 of the Saint Paul City Charter provides that upon receipt of a notice of
7 vacancy for the position of Police Chief, the Council shall appoint an Examining Committee; and,

9 WHEREAS, this Examining Committee shall be designated as the Police Chief Examining Committee;

11 NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAINT PAUL DOES ORDAIN:

13 Section 1
14 That the Council hereby establishes the Police Chief Examining Committee pursuant to the provisions of
15 Section 1212.1 of the Saint Paul City Charter.

18 That the following people shall be appointed to serve of the Police Chief Examining Committee:

Section 3
45 That the Office of Human Resources shall provide staff to support the Police Chief Examining Committee
46 throughout all aspects of its work process.

48 Section 4
49 That the Office of the City Attomey, the Department of Human Rights and Equal Economic Opportunity,
50 and City Council Research shall provide staff to support the Police Chief Examining Committee
51 throughout its work, except they shall not participate in the candidate interview process. The Saint Paul
52 Police Department shall provide data and technical assistance as requested by the examining committee.

55 That this ordinance shall take effect and be in force thirty (30) days from and after passage, approval and
56 publication.
