Meters, shutoff valves. 9 �a,2 Each service shall be provided with two (2) valves, one on either side of the meter. Both valves shall be the 10 same size as the service pipe or larger. All meter shutoff valves shall comply with water utility standards. 11 (bl On combined fire and domestic water svstems. the first shut-off valve on the domestic service shall be an 12 aporoved full-wav valve with lockable handle. 13 14 Section 2 15 Sec. 94.13. Sec. 94.07 Meters. Shutoff valves. The proposed change would require that the shut-off valve on the domestic line of combined meter settings be lockable. This would enable a more secure shut-off of the domestic portion of water service in the event of water bill nonpayment. Sec. 94.13 Water heating systems. The proposed changes provide: (a) Clarification of the current requirement; (b) 18-inch ma�cimum elevation of water heaters for safety and maintenance; and (c) Double-walled Heat exchangers to be for safety. REPORT_OS-23-06.doc o�-�a� BOARD OF WATER COMMISSIONERS RESOLUTION — GENERAL FORM PRESENTED BY gleindl COMMISSIONER N, 5094 DATF MaA 9. 2006 WH��REAS, Boazd of Water Commissioners (`Boazd") staff recommends that Chapter 94 of the Saint Paul Legislative Code of the City of Saint Paul ("Code") be amended to provide for better shut- off of domestic water services and for certain safety requirements for water heaters and heat exchangers; and WHEREAS, Boazd's staff has prepared a City of Saint Paul Ordinance ("Ordinance") which amends the Code to provide for said shut-off and safery requirements, copy of the Ordinance being attached hereto and incorporated herein; and WHEREAS, the assistant city attorney has reviewed and approved the Ordinance as to form, and the 3aint Paul Regional W ater Services General Manager recommends approval of the Ordinance; now, thexefore, be it RESOLVED, that the Boazd of Water Commissioners does hereby approve the attached Ordinance amending Chapter 94 of the Saint Paul I.egislative Code of the City of Saint Paul; and, be it FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Board of Water Commissioners does hereby request that the Honorable Council of the City of Saint Paul approve and adopt said Ordinance.
