I signed two of the three ordinances: Council File 06-160, which prohibits "billboard" extensions to nonconforming signs; and Council File 06-161, which prohibits the electrification or illumination of advertising signs. It is my understanding the intent of Council File 06-162, which prohibits the establishment of "roof signs", is to eliminate signs functioning as billboazds under the guise of rooftop signs. I share with you the goal of eliminating billboard-like rooftop signs as eachibited at the pubIic hearing on March 1, 2006. I am concerned the language in Council File 06-162 is overly broad. For this reason, I am vetoing Council File No. 06-162 and returning it to you. I look forwazd to working with you to address this con m and accomplish oar goal. Sincefel' f Chnstopher B.
