UPPORTS WHICH COUNCIL OBJECTIVE?
INITIATING PROBLEM, ISSUE, OPPORTUNITY (WHO, WHAT, WHEN, WHERE, WfiY):
he fence section on opaqueness has created some confusion. Currently, if a
fence is not solid over 20, it can exceed 3'F feet height in a required
front yard, although it may not'exceed_6 lh feet in height, conversely, if a
fence is 2Qo or more solid, it may only be 3 1 F feet in height in a required
front yard. Picket fences are more than 20$ opaque`but are typically sold in
four foot high pieces which is why LIEP staff recommend the change. The
roposed language would clari£y this ordinance but would also reduce the
eight of a chain link fence in a front yard eliminating many complaints and
reserving neighborhood appearance. A variance could still be granted i£
justified and exzsting fences would be'al-lowed to remain.
