Statement of Need to Extend Interim Ordinance. In Council File 00-131, the Saint
Paul City Council referred proposed amendments to the Saint Paul Zoning Code pertaining to
gun shops to the Planning Commission and requested that the Commission study the proposed
amendments and submit a report and recommendation to the City Council. Section 3 of Council
File No. 00-152 imposed an interim ordinance which prohibited City's officers, employees,
agents and commissions from approving or issuing any permit or license for the establishxnent of
a gun shop in any zoning district within the City pending the Commission's report and
recommendation, and until such time as the City Council had taken action on any
recommendations contained therein. Section 4 of Council File No. 00-152 provided that the
interim ordinance would expire on Apri127, 2001. The Planning Commission will consider its
