of penalties for violation of the Saint
Paul Legislative Code.
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAINT PAUL DOES ORDAIN:

Secrion 1.05 of the Saint Paul Legislative Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
Sec. 1.05. Penalty.
(a) Ordinance violations. Any person violating any provision of the Legislative Code
shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof mav sl� be punished by a fine
not to exceed seven €rve hundred dollars 700.00 �$306�8j or by imprisonment for a term not
to exceed ninety (90) days, or both, r�ardless of whether e�verri€a lesser penalty is fixed or
provided for by a particular ordinance, includine but not limited to reductions or stated
maximums far earl�pavment of fines. Notwithstanding the foregoing, any person violating a
sec6on of the Legislative Code which provides a penalty of a fine only shall be guilty of a petty
misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof mav shai� be punished as provided by that section,
but in no event to exceed two eae hundred dollars $2( Q0.00� {�9A-99}. Nothing herein is
intended to or shall have the effect of limitin� the nower of the �diciarv to establish and use
recommended fine schedules for violations of provisions of the Legislative Code.
Lb) Macimum fines after August 1 2000. Notwithstandine subsection (a) above, on and
after August 1. 2000, tl�e maximum allowable fine for a misdemeanar shall be one thousand
dollars ($1,000.001. and the maYimum allowable fine for a petty misdemeanor shall be three
hundred dollars ($300.001. �
(c) Ordinances identical to state daw. Notwithstandin�any other provision of the
Legislative Code to the contrarv. the ounishment for violation of any ordinance which is identical
(except for the punishment provided thereinl to a Minnesota statutory provision, sha11 be as
provided in the said Minnesota statutorv provision.

3 Secrion 160.06 of the Saint Paul Legislative Code is hereby annended to read as follows:
5 Sec. 160.06. Payment required,
6 No person shall stop, stand or park or cause to stop, stand or park any vehicle in any place
7 serviced by a pazking meter, and no person shall allow or cause any vehicle under his caze or
8 chazge to remain in any such metered space beyond the time pernutted by such meter. Any such
9 violation sha11 be a misdemeanor,

Section 161.04 of the Saint Paul Legislative Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
Sec. 161.04. Vehicles stopped; �aes; misdemeanor.
Any vehicle stopped, pazked, abandoned or otherwise left unattended in violation of
section 161.03 is hereby declazed to be an obstruction to the public streets and shall be
punishable as a misdemeanor .
Section 4
Section 168.12 of the Saint Paul Legislative Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
Sec. 168.12. Penalty.
