00-1068Council File # b — ��►� OR1G1�l,�L Presented Referred To Committee Date 1 Administrative Ordinance placing the positions represented by the labor agreement between 2 Independent School District No. 625 and City of Saint Paui Manual and Maintenance Supervisors' 3 Association titled School Bus Garage Supervisor, Food Service Equipment Specialist, Pacility Operations 4 Coordinator I, Grounds and Labor Supervisor, and Facility Operations Coordinator II in the unclassified 5 service pursuant to Section 12/03.2 (H) of the City of Saint Paul Charter. 6 THE COi3NCIL OF THE CITY OF SA3NT PAUL DOES ORDAIN: 7 Section L That it is appropriate and desirable to place the positions titled School Bus Garage 8 Supervisor, Food Service Equipment Specialist, Facility Operations Coordinator I, Grounds 9 and Labor Supervisor, and Facility Operations Coordinator II in the unclassified service of 10 Independent School District No. 625. 11 Section 2. That pursuant to Section 12.03.2(F� of the city Charter, such positions shall be established 12 in the unclassified service of Independent School District No. 625. 13 Secfion 3. That pursuant to Section 12.07.3. of the City Charter, "...any employee who has served 14 satisfactorilyin the affected position for at least five (5) continuous years prior to the position 15 change shall be entitled to retain, for two (2} years or until transferred into a classified job, 16 whichever is the shorter period, all raghts and privileges to which that person would have 17 been entitled in a classified job." 18 Section 4. That the positions represented by the collective bazgaining agreement between the City of 19 Saint Paul and City of Saint Paul Manual and Maintenance Supervisors' Association shall 20 remain in their current service. 21 Section 5. This Ordinance shall take effect and be in force thirty (30) days from and after its passage, 22 approval, publication, and consent thereto by the City of Saint Paul Civil Service 23 Commission as provided by the Ciry Charter. This action will result in the employees in the affected positions being subject to the protection and stipulations of their respective contracts and the policies of the School District. ADVANTAGE5IFAPPROVED: The employees wi11 be protected and govemed only by the affected bargaining unit contract and the policies of the School District, and will not be subject to a third body of policies and procedures, the city civil service rules. Two School District bargaining unit contracts will no Ionger haue to go through City Council for approval. Aduunisuatively, the change allows employees in these two groups to be more efficiendy and effectively serviced as part of the new payroll and finance system of the School District.
