Subject: Withdrawal of Council File 99-228
I respectfully request the withdrawal of Councii File number 99-228 regarding changes
to chapter 34 of the Legislative Code. This item (Number 28) appeared as the second
reading on March 17th. It is not scheduled for public hearing this week, but we assume
that it will be scheduled April 7th, as there is no Council meeting on the 31st of March
because it is the 5th Wednesday of the month (correct?).
This ordinance change was proposed by LIEP and was intended to clarify certain
requirements of the Building Code. In discussing the proposed changes with other
departments we found that there is a difference in interpretation between staff on the
applicability of the requirements. Therefore we would like to withdraw the change at
this time and discuss the matter further to see what, if any, changes are appropriate to
propose at a later date.
Thanks for your understanding and assistance on this matter, please let me know if you
have any questions, and whether I should appear at Council on the 7th to explain this at
the public hearing.
