Initiating Problem, Issues, Opportunity (Who, What, When, Where, Why): Business owners requested we construct concrete boulevazd sidewalks to replace dirt and asphalt boulevards. Business owner requested we reconstruct interior sidewalk abutting mainline sidewalk to establish proper drainage. Advantages If Approved: The community will benefit from these projects because they will provide safe defect free sidewalks for its many citizens. The sidewalk contracts aze done by private contractors generating public sector jobs as a result. DisadvantageslfApproved: Historically, sidewalk construction and reconstrucrion have negative feedback because of construction procedures and assessmenu. Having to assess for walk construction reconstrucrion remains a controversial issue. Disadvantages If Not Approved: This option would allow the infraskucture of sidewallc to deteriorate, which in turn, will generate more personal injury suits resulting in expenditure of lazger dollaz amount in repairs and replacements, as well as claim payouts.
