Thank you. Jennifer »> "Kelty, Paula" <pkelty@trane.com> 10/11/2006 1225 PM »> Councilmember Helgen: I am in a neighborhood that has petitioned to have our alley paved. It is called Green St. The public hearing is scheduled for Oct. 18, and I won't be able to attend. So I would like to submit in writing my support of the plan. I believe that getting our alley paved will not only improve the appearance of the neighborhood, but will also eliminate many problems with getting stuck in the snow because of the unevenness of the ground. I believe it wifl also help to eliminaie illegal activiiies: Over the past year, someone parked an open flatbed trailer on the side of the alley that was full of old clothes and garbage. Some neighbors finally had to call the police and have it towed away. I found two women's handbags in the ferns in between the alley and the side of my garage. These handbags had obviously been stolen and emptied of their valuable contents and then thrown there by the thief. I donY think these activities would have taken place if our alley was not so desolate and forlorn-looking. In addition, many of us are interested in improving the value of our property, and we think this is a way to do that. Thanks you for considering my comments.
