Lexington Pedestrian/Bike Trail Acquisition and Development Project Report Prepared December 21, 2001 Public Hearing Proposed January 23, 2002 PROJECT The Acquisition of temporary construction easements and permanent easements on properry owned by the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad Company (BNSF� in the area southwest of the intersection of Jessamine Avenue and L,exington Parkway. PURPOSE To acquire these property rights for developing a Pedestrian/Bike Trail and Underpass along L.exington Parkway in the Como Park azea. INITIATING ACTION The Saint Paul Parks and Recreation has available Federal Funds for use in developing this project. Said funds have to be used in 2002 or Parks and Recreation may lose this funding to develop the trail. FUNDING The estimated pro}ect cost is $1.4 Million Dollars with $1 Million Dollars coming from Federal Funds and $400,000 from City Funds. 'I'he estimate for acquiring the property rights for the BNSF property is $11,000. MANAGEMENT The Real Estate Division in the Department of Technology and Management Services will be acquiring the property rights for Pazks and Recreation.
