SUMMARY OF ENGINEERING RECOMMENDATIONS
OGDEN COURT EXTENSION OF
OGDEN / WINTHROP SANITARY SEWER
CITY PROJECT NO.
NEIGHBORHOOD INFORMATION MEETING MARCH 28, 2001
PUBLIC HEARING - PENDING
PROJECT:
Construct a sanitary sewer in Ogden Court from three hundred feet (300') west of
McKnight to Winthrop and in an easement area parailel and approximately 160' north of
the Ogden Court sewer.
EXISTING CONDITIONS:
The project area is presently served by individual septic systems. We have received a
petition for sanitary sewer improvements. Problems with individual septic systems have
been reported. Ogden Court is an oiled road. The easement area is unimproved.
PROPOSEDIMPROVEMENTS:
Construct a sanitary sewer and sewer service connections in Ogden Court to serve the
residents on the south side of Ogden Court, and construct a sanitary sewer and sewer
service connections in an easement area to serve residents on the north side of Ogden
Court. Restoration wifl be in kind with no improvement to the roadway surtace.
ALTERNATIVE :
To do nothing would require the property owners with failing septic systems to repair or
replace their existing septic systems.
POSITIVE BENEFITS:
Public sanitary sewer will be available to properties abutting the sewer construction.
ADVERSE EFFECTS:
Normal problems associated with construction such as noise, dust, reduced access to
property and general disruption will be present.
EFFECT ON TREES:
Trees will be trimmed with minimal tree removal expected. Sewer alignment may be
adjusted during construction to minimize tree removal.
CQST ESTtMATES:
Sewer Construction $125,000
Engineering & fnspection $ 31,25d
Reai Estate Service Fee 9 375
Total $i 65,625
a,-a?
ESTIMATED FINANCIIVG:
Public Financing Authority loan (PFA) $i65,625
A portion ofi ihe PFA loan will be repaid by property assessments as properties connect
to the sanitary sewer.
SOURCE OF ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
For additional information, contact the Project Engineer Joe Mueller, at 266-6149.
RECOMMENDATION:
The Department of Public Works makes no recommendation in this matter. The project
was initiated from a petition by area residents.
Respectfully submitted,
