upon the above improvement, due notice thereof having been given as
prescribed by the City Charter; and
WxEREAS, The Council has heard all persons, objections and
recommendations pertaining to said proposed improvement and has fully
considered the same; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Council of the City of Saint Paul does hereby order
that the above-described improvement be made, and the proper City officers
are hereby directed and authorized to proceed wiCh the improvement; and be it
FURTHER RESOLVED, That upon the completion of said improvement, the
proper City officers shall calculate all expenses incurred therein and shall
report the same to the City Council in accordance with Chapter 14 of the City
Charter.

7his project was submitted to the Planning and Economic Development (PED) Department by the Sneliing Selby Business
Association. The existing nonstandard globe lighting system is deteriorating rapidly. The Snelling Selby Business
Associatiion has recieved a$75,000 STAR Grant from PED. The remaining costs will be assessed to ihe Snelling Selby
Business Association, to which they have agreed.

The deteriorating nonstandard globe system, along with 8 bent straw lights will be replaced with a historic twin tantem style
lighting system, thereby enhancing the aesthetics of the business area. This new lighting system will provide lighting of a
quantity and unifarmity that meets current design standards.

39 twin lantern style light standards on Selby Avenue, Snelling Avenue, Dayton Avenue and Haa e
Avenue.
Initiating Action
Submitted to PBD by the Snelling Selby Area Business Association
Existing Conditions
Selby Avenue, Snelling Avenue, Dayton Avenue and Hague Avenue are currently served by a
nonstandard globe system which has reached the end of its service life. A system of I50 watt Bent Straw
poles are also in place on Snelling and Selby.
Proposed Improvements
Installation of 39 twin lantern style street light standards; 10 - 100 watt light standards on Snelling,
19 - 70 watt light standards on Selby, 4- 70 watt light standards on Hague and 6- 70 wat[ light standards
to be installed on Liberty State Bank property along Dayton. Bent straw light standards will be replaced
with twin lantems on Selby but not on Snelling.
Positive Benefits
Lantem lighting will provide more light with better uniformity than exists presently. At the same time it
has a decorative effect on the business area.
Adverse Effects
Increased maintenance and operating cost to the participating propedy owners.

poles are also in place on Snelling and Selby.
Proposed Improvements
Installation of 39 twin lantern style street light standards; 10 - 100 watt light standards on Snelling,
19 - 70 watt light standards on Selby, 4- 70 watt light standards on Hague and 6- 70 wat[ light standards
to be installed on Liberty State Bank property along Dayton. Bent straw light standards will be replaced
with twin lantems on Selby but not on Snelling.
Positive Benefits
Lantem lighting will provide more light with better uniformity than exists presently. At the same time it

2. That a public hearing be had on said improvement on Wednesday, 22th

Project
A deteriorating nonstandard globe system along with 8 bent straw light standazds will be exchanged for
39 twin lantem style light standards on Selby Avenue, Snelling Avenue, Dayton Avenue and Hague
Avenue.
Initiating Action
Submitted to PED by the Snelling Selby Area Business Association
Existing Conditions
Selby Avenue, Snelling Avenue, Dayton Avenue and Hague Avenue are currently served by a
nonstandard globe systezn which has reached the end of its service life. A system of 150 watt Bent Straw
poles are also in place on Snelling and Selby.
Proposed Improvements
Installation of 39 twin lantern style street light standards; 10 - 100 watt light standards on Snelling,
19 - 70 watt light standards on Selby, 4- 70 watt light standazds on Hague and 6- 70 watt light standazds
to be installed on Liberty State Bank property along Dayton. Bent straw light standards will be replaced
with twin lanterns on Selby but not on Snelling.
Positive BeneSts
Lantern lighting will provide more light with beTter uniformity than exists presenfly. At the same time it
has a decorative effect on the business azea.

This project was submitted to the Planning and Economic Development (PED) Department by the Snelling Selby Business
Association. The existing nonstandard giobe lighting system is deteriorating rapidly. The Snelling Sefby Susiness
Associatiion has recieved a$75,000 STAR Grant from PED. The remaining costs will be assessed to the Snelling Selby
Business Association, to which they have agreed.
