Durin the past several months, Ecolab has been examining its options to allow continued growth

1,60,
- ,
l ,  g
As an additional part of the expansion, the company will center its world training facility in the
Capital Centre Buildin. The renovations necessary to accomplish the expansiun will cost and
estimated IZ,040,000. In addition to the new jobs, Ecolab estimates that the expansion will bring
a thousand Ecotab associates to dovmtovm Saint Paui for company business and training.
To accommodate and complement the Ecolab expansion and investment in the downtown the
company has requested that the City/I-tA proide assistance for the following:
1. The reconstruction of Osborne Plaza;
2. Assistance in securing a Minnesota Department of Trade and Economic
Development loan in the amount of 500,000;
3. Securin an FiRA development loan of 5500,000;
4. Assistance in securin sufficient parking for the new employees; and
5. Assistance in securing job training funds through the State of h'linnesota.
PIIBLIC PURPOSE
The Ecolab, Inc. expansion wiil generate over 600 new jobs to the City of Saint Paul. The
intemationai trainin center will brin 1000 Ecolab associates into the city, ihereby, creating
sinificant new spending in hotels, restaurants and other retai3 stores. Finally, the expansion
ensures the continued presence in downtown of one of the city's largest employers.
