BACKGROUND Ecolab Inc. has been located in its building on Wabasha Street in downtown Saint Paul since 1968. The company has grov,n into an intemationa} leader in the manufacture and marketer of premium cleanin�, sanitizing and maintenance products and services for the hospitality, institutional and industrial maTkets. Tn recent years the companies growth has necessitated the acquisition and!or leasing of more and more office space to accommodate its needs. Currently, the company owns the Eco3ab and former NSP Buildings and 3eases space in the Capital Centre Building. Durin� the past several months, Ecolab has been examining its options to allow continued growth while mainiainin� efficier�cies. These options included expansion in downtown 5aint Paul either into e�cisting space or newly constructed space. The company's Board of Directors has chosen to expand in downtown into additional leased space. PR03ECT DESCRLPTIO?( Ecolab Inc. will undertake a major expansion in downtown Saint Paul. This includes leasing additional space in the Czpital Centre Building so that in appro�mately ten (10) years Ecolab will occupy the entire building. The company will bring an additional 600 new jobs to downtown during this geriod. This job erowth will bring the total number of downtown employees to over 1,60�, - �, �l� , �� g As an additional part of the expansion, the company will center its world training facility in the Capital Centre Buildin�. The renovations necessary to accomplish the expansiun will cost and estimated �IZ,040,000. In addition to the new jobs, Ecolab estimates that the expansion will bring a thousand Ecotab associates to dovmtovm Saint Paui for company business and training. To accommodate and complement the Ecolab expansion and investment in the downtown the company has requested that the City/I-�tA pro�ide assistance for the following: 1. The reconstruction of Osborne Plaza; 2. Assistance in securing a Minnesota Department of Trade and Economic Development loan in the amount of �500,000; 3. Securin� an FiRA development loan of 5500,000; 4. Assistance in securin� sufficient parking for the new employees; and 5. Assistance in securing job training funds through the State of h'linnesota. PIIBLIC PURPOSE The Ecolab, Inc. expansion wiil generate over 600 new jobs to the City of Saint Paul. The intemationai trainin� center will brin� 1000 Ecolab associates into the city, ihereby, creating si�nificant new spending in hotels, restaurants and other retai3 stores. BACKGROUND Ecolab Inc. has been located in its building on Wabasha Street in downtown Saint Paul since 1968. The company has grov,n into an intemationa} leader in the manufacture and marketer of premium cleanin�, sanitizing and maintenance products and services for the hospitality, institutional and industrial maTkets. Tn recent years the companies growth has necessitated the acquisition and!or leasing of more and more office space to accommodate its needs. Currently, the company owns the Eco3ab and former NSP Buildings and 3eases space in the Capital Centre Building. Durin� the past several months, Ecolab has been examining its options to allow continued growth while mainiainin� efficier�cies. These options included expansion in downtown 5aint Paul either into e�cisting space or newly constructed space. The company's Board of Directors has chosen to expand in downtown into additional leased space. PR03ECT DESCRLPTIO?( Ecolab Inc. will undertake a major expansion in downtown Saint Paul. This includes leasing additional space in the Czpital Centre Building so that in appro�mately ten (10) years Ecolab will occupy the entire building. The company will bring an additional 600 new jobs to downtown during this geriod. This job erowth will bring the total number of downtown employees to over 1,60�, - �, �l� , �� g As an additional part of the expansion, the company will center its world training facility in the Capital Centre Buildin�. The renovations necessary to accomplish the expansiun will cost and estimated �IZ,040,000. In addition to the new jobs, Ecolab estimates that the expansion will bring a thousand Ecotab associates to dovmtovm Saint Paui for company business and training. To accommodate and complement the Ecolab expansion and investment in the downtown the company has requested that the City/I-�tA pro�ide assistance for the following: 1. The reconstruction of Osborne Plaza; 2. Assistance in securing a Minnesota Department of Trade and Economic Development loan in the amount of �500,000; 3. Securin� an FiRA development loan of 5500,000; 4. Assistance in securin� sufficient parking for the new employees; and 5. Assistance in securing job training funds through the State of h'linnesota. PIIBLIC PURPOSE The Ecolab, Inc. expansion wiil generate over 600 new jobs to the City of Saint Paul. BACKGROUND Ecolab Inc. has been located in its building on Wabasha Street in downtown Saint Paul since 1968. The company has grov,n into an intemationa} leader in the manufacture and marketer of premium cleanin�, sanitizing and maintenance products and services for the hospitality, institutional and industrial maTkets. Tn recent years the companies growth has necessitated the acquisition and!or leasing of more and more office space to accommodate its needs. Currently, the company owns the Eco3ab and former NSP Buildings and 3eases space in the Capital Centre Building. Durin� the past several months, Ecolab has been examining its options to allow continued growth while mainiainin� efficier�cies. These options included expansion in downtown 5aint Paul either into e�cisting space or newly constructed space. The company's Board of Directors has chosen to expand in downtown into additional leased space. PR03ECT DESCRLPTIO?( Ecolab Inc. will undertake a major expansion in downtown Saint Paul. This includes leasing additional space in the Czpital Centre Building so that in appro�mately ten (10) years Ecolab will occupy the entire building. The company will bring an additional 600 new jobs to downtown during this geriod. This job erowth will bring the total number of downtown employees to over 1,60�, - �, �l� , �� g As an additional part of the expansion, the company will center its world training facility in the Capital Centre Buildin�. The renovations necessary to accomplish the expansiun will cost and estimated �IZ,040,000. In addition to the new jobs, Ecolab estimates that the expansion will bring a thousand Ecotab associates to dovmtovm Saint Paui for company business and training. To accommodate and complement the Ecolab expansion and investment in the downtown the company has requested that the City/I-�tA pro�ide assistance for the following: 1. The reconstruction of Osborne Plaza; 2. Assistance in securing a Minnesota Department of Trade and Economic Development loan in the amount of �500,000; 3. Securin� an FiRA development loan of 5500,000; 4. Assistance in securin� sufficient parking for the new employees; and 5. Assistance in securing job training funds through the State of h'linnesota. PIIBLIC PURPOSE The Ecolab, Inc. expansion wiil generate over 600 new jobs to the City of Saint Paul. The intemationai trainin� center will brin� 1000 Ecolab associates into the city, ihereby, creating si�nificant new spending in hotels, restaurants and other retai3 stores. Finally, the expansion ensures the continued presence in downtown of one of the city's largest employers.
