WHV: The problem "defective sidewalk" was created because oS tree roots, deleterious subgrade materiai, afternating freefthaw cycles, service I"rfe limits, chemicai additives, ex[reme temperature variations, etc. These problems occur on a cdywide level and must be addressed and crorrected on an annua4 basis. Left uncorrected, the sidewalk condition would worsen to a state where it would be rendered unusable and subjec[ to increased pedestrian injuries from falls and possible litigations. ADVAMAGES IF APPROVED: The community will benefit from this project because it will provide safe detect free sidewalks for its many citizens. The sidewalk contracts are executed by private contractors, so it follows that private sector jobs are created as a result of this activity. DISADVANTAGES IF APPROVED: Historically, the sidewalk reconstructions have created negative feedback in the area of construction procedure and assessment. Simpfy stated, property owners detest assessments, and despite the fact up to one-half the assessment is City subsidized, it still remaias controversial. OISADVANTAGES IF NOT APPROVED: This option would allow the infrastructure of sidewalk stock to deteriorate, which in turn, wiil generate more personal injury suits, ultimately resulting in the expenditure of larger dollar amounts in eventual repairs andlor replacement, as well as claim payouts. e' An ,g ';,,;sT + ° 'wi' ,ekaso& e`;"'aaa4 '2,e%.,.ar: kY ' J TOTALAMWNTOFTRANSACi'IONS 2,9tS 00 COSTRiEVENUEBUDGETEDCI4X'CE`25Nj' VE3' 9 xo FUNDINGSOUpCE 95^M-06fi4 A, PPA 95 = 515,OQa pCRV1TYNUMBEfl C95-2T727-0784-27010 PINANCIAL INFOqMATION: (EXPLAIN) B z ST = 416 x OOO G, ctg 95 = 50,000 .
