PROJECT
improve the N-S aliey in BIk.15 Rice Sfreet Villas (bounded by Arlington,
Nebraska, Marion and Albemarie) by grading and paving with bituminous material.
Aiso, condemning and taking an easement in the land necessary for the slopes, cuts
and fills, including right of removal of lateral support from subject land or remainder
thereof, occasioned by excavations thereofi or construction of slopes in the grading and
paving of said alley.
INIT4ATING ACTION:
This improvement was initiated by a petition signed by 7 of the 16 property owners,
representing 4i% of the abutting property owners.
EXISTING CONDITIONS:
This alley is platted 28 feet wide. The south end was narrowed to a widfh of 20 feet
through a vacation proceeding. The grade on the south one third of the aliey is fairly
steep. The north end is relatively flat but we should be abie to make it drain without a
storm sewer. There is only one home on the west side of the alley and the rest is
vacant land. The east side of the alley is about 80% developed. Three new homes
have recentiy been built on this side of the alley. Curbing was constructed through the
aliey opening on Nebraska and therefore the oniy access is over the steep grades near
Artington.
HISTORY:
This aliey has no previous history of problems.
PROPOSEDIMPROVEMENT:
Grade the alley to a width of 16' and place a hot mix bituminous pavement.
