ADMINISTRATIVE ORDER,
Pursuant to the 2010 City Budget, the proper City officials are hereby authorized to pay a stipend
in the amount of $100.00 to each teacher who attends a two hour training worizshop an the Risk
Watch injury prevention curriculum, not to exceed $10,000.00. This will pay for all stipend costs
incurred by the Saint Paul Fire Department to pay teacher attendees of these workshops. The
public purpose is to reduce unintentional injuries to c5ildren by providing an evening program
for teschers to cover the Risk Watch curriculum that they will use in their classrooms.
A copy of said order is to be kept on file and of record in the Office of Financial Services.

Initiating Problem, Issues, Opportunity (Who, What, When, Where, Why):
Risk Watch is an injury prevention curriculum that teachers implement in the classroom. The Risk Watch program was desi�ed to
reduce the lugh rate of uninten6onal injuries to cluldren 5-14 years old. The workshop on Risk Watch is held after the school day and
over the dinner hour to explain the program to teachers. A survey showed that more teachers would attend a workshop if light
refreshments were provided and they were offered a stipend of $100.00 for attending the workshop.
AdvantageslfApproved:
Teachers will agee to attend the workshop and teach Risk Watch curriculum. Injuries to school-age children will drop.

A greater number of school-age children in the City of Saint Paul will continue to be seriously injured.
