The Department of Public Works would like to purchase a brine making system and retrofit ten sander trucks with brine
pre-wetting�quipment for salt application in winter months. The savings realized by using less salt will cover the costs
of this new equipment.

The Department of Public Works would like to purchase a brine making system and reVofit ten sander trucks with brine pre-wetting
equipment for salt application in winter months. The savings realized by using less salt will cover the costs of th�s new system.
Advantages If Approved:
The new system shouid reduce our overall salt usage during winter months by 15% to 20%.
Disadvantages If Approved:
None

We wouid not be utilizing the full cost savings available for salt use. In addifion using less salt reduces the impact on the sucrounding
environntent.
